The team was established in 1949. The home field is YOKOHAMA STADIUM in Kanagawa Prefecture.
The mascot characters are DB. STARMAN and DB. KIRARA with the team symbol-star motif that has on image of a hamster.
The team has won the Central League Championship and the Nippon Series twice.
