The team was established in 1950. The home field is Meiji Jingu Stadium in Tokyo Prefecture. The mascot characters are Tsubakurou, Tsubami, and Torcuya with the motif of a swallow. The team has won the Central League Championship 9 times and the Nippon Series 6 times.
